Hong Tran joined the University of Cincinnati Sports Performance staff in June 2021 as Director of Sports Performance. In her role at UC, Tran works directly with the with the women’s basketball program. Her responsibilities include the physical development of UC players to perform optimally while decreasing their likelihood of injury. She is closely involved in the preparation of each player’s readiness for practices and games via training, nutrition, recovery, and education. Tran came to Cincinnati from Western Kentucky where she served as Assistant Director Strength & Conditioning from 2017-21. She oversaw the performance efforts of the women’s basketball and women’s soccer programs. Prior to WKU, Tran worked at South Florida (2014-17), starting as an athletic performance intern for women’s basketball & men’s golf programs, before moving into a full-time role as Strength & Conditioning Assistant. While at USF, she worked primarily with football and softball later transitioned to men’s and women’s track and field and cross country while assisting with various Olympic sports. Tran is a graduate of Saint Leo University where she earned her bachelor’s and earned her master’s years later in sport administration & recreation with a concentration in intercollegiate athletics. Tran is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach. She is a Certified Speed Specialist with the NASE and First Aid, CPR and AED certified. She has also completed the USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning program.
